Five Stories of Interest

Reuse, Revitalize, Repurpose – How In-Orbit Satellite Servicing is Changing the Economics of Space
Robotic in-orbit satellite servicing is rapidly changing the way satellite operators think about their fleets. During this session, Orbital ATK President and Chief Executive Officer David W. Thompson and SpaceLogistics President Tom Wilson will unveil Orbital ATK’s next generation in-orbit robotic servicing platform. Joining them on stage will be Stephen Spengler, Chief Executive Officer of Intelsat, who will share his perspective as the customer for the first two Mission Extension Vehicles TM (MEV).

Gwynne Shotwell Will Accept Via Satellite’s Award for Satellite Executive of the Year 2017
Gwynne Shotwell, President and COO of SpaceX will be honored at the Satellite Executive of the Year Award Luncheon on Wednesday, March 14, hosted by Via Satellite magazine. Congressman C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger (D-MD) will deliver a special keynote and welcome address that will include updates on satellite service acquisition policy, and insight from his work on the powerful U.S. House Appropriations committee and Homeland Security subcommittees.

Startup Space
Back for the second year, Startup Space gives 19 entrepreneurs a chance to pitch their businesses and ideas to a panel of highly accomplished space professionals, investors, thought leaders, and fellow entrepreneurs. Taking place in the SATELLITE Unveiled Theater, Booth 1152, directly on the show floor on Tuesday, March 13, this is an event not to be missed!

Monday Luncheon Keynote: The Four Corners of Innovation Can Unlock the Growth Potential for High Throughput Satellites
Today, the satellite industry is in transition. It is working hard to join the broad telecommunications landscape and break through the current barriers that limit mass-market adoption of satellite consumer and enterprise broadband. Innovative concepts and technologies must come together to propel satellite into the major role it could play in our hyper-connected society. The four corners of innovation — Delivery, Capacity, Efficiency and Distribution — must each create enormous price and performance disruption to meet the latent user demand for broadband worldwide. Join us during the Monday Keynote Lunch with John Finney, Founder, Isotropic to experience first-hand the next generation terminal technology that will enable exponential industry growth.
