Ryan Reid is president of Boeing Satellite Systems International (BSSI), part of Boeing Space Mission Systems. BSSI oversees the strategy, integration and execution of Boeing’s global commercial satellite business. Reid is responsible for general management of all Boeing commercial satellite and services contracts. Reid also leads the team that is designing and building the next generation of spacecraft in Boeing’s satellite factory in El Segundo, California.
Prior to his current position, Reid was the director of the O3b mPOWER satellite program for customer SES. As part of that program, Reid led the Boeing team responsible for the development, production, and delivery of the first fully software-driven satellite, the 702X, which has since been evolved for other commercial and government communication satellite applications. Previously, Reid was the director of Space System Architectures where he led the engineering organization responsible for space architecture modeling, simulation, and analysis; cybersecurity implementation in space applications, network architectures, and integrated system development and deployment. Since joining Boeing in 1999, Reid has held engineering, management and program leadership roles across both commercial and government businesses, and has been at the forefront of several industry innovations including direct-to-device, broadband, and networked space systems.
Reid is a member of the the Board of Directors of the El Segundo Chamber of Commerce and the El Segundo Economic Development Corporation. He also holds executive leadership roles within Boeing’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion portfolio.
Reid received a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from University of California Riverside and a Master of Science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California.
