Moderator: The New Economics and Costs of Building Constellations

Dave Davis is the cofounder and managing partner of InMotion Holdings, an investment and management services firm focusing on companies with disruptive technologies and business models in the satellite manufacturing, satcomm and mobile connectivity sectors. Immediately prior to cofounding InMotion, Davis served as the chief executive officer of Global Eagle Entertainment Inc., one of the largest providers of satellite-based connectivity systems and media content to mobility markets. Davis was a key leader in orchestrating the three-way merger that created Global Eagle. Through organic growth and the completion of eight acquisitions, revenue grew by approximately 275% during Davis’s tenure and adjusted EBITDA improved from loss-making to nearly $100 million annually. At Global Eagle, Dave raised over $1 billion in equity and debt capital to fund acquisitions, provide operating cash and refinance debt Prior to Global Eagle, Davis served as senior managing director of Bearpath Capital LLC and private equity firm Perseus LLC. Prior to becoming involved in private equity, Davis spent nearly 20 years in aerospace and commercial aviation. Davis served as chief financial officer of Northwest Airlines and was a key participant in the airline’s successful restructuring and ultimate merger with Delta Air Lines. Davis also served as chief financial officer of US Airways. Earlier in his career, Davis was an aerospace engineer and worked on the Space Shuttle program for Rockwell Space Operations Company, as well as serving as an applications and marketing engineer for Rosemount Aerospace, now part of BF Goodrich.

Davis holds a Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics degree from the University of Minnesota and an MBA from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota.
