Speaker: Energy, Industry and Mining: Serving New Big Data-Driven Markets

Before earning his MBA at Harvard Business School and becoming a space entrepreneur, Justin spent nearly a decade working at NASA and the White House, both as an engineer and a policy leader. His time in public service exposed Justin to the challenges facing the Earth Observation sector. Of particular concern to the future of a NewSpace economy was the weak connectivity to data-intensive remote sensing satellites in Low Earth Orbit. Together with co-founder Dan Nevius, he developed the concept for a hybrid RF/optical data relay network in Low Earth Orbit to overcome the data bottleneck. In maturing the idea, Justin has developed an acute understanding of the connectivity needs of current and future remote sensing satellites and of the potential applications that could be unlocked with a high-throughput, low latency data downlink capability.
