Speaker: The New Face of U.S. Export Controls on Satellites and Spacecraft

Fred Shaheen is Chief Counsel, Global Trade Controls for The Boeing Company and is a member of the Global Law Affairs group. Fred is based in the Roslyn, VA office and is responsible for all U.S. and non-U.S. trade control legal affairs at The Boeing Company.

Prior to joining Boeing, Fred was in private practice for sixteen years in Washington, DC. He was the national Chairman for two practice groups at Greenberg Traurig, LLP where he headed the firm's export controls and government contracts practices. During his seven years with that firm he advised Fortune 500 Defence and Aerospace companies on a broad range of export control issues as well as compliance with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

Previous to his legal career, Fred was an appointee at the Department of State where he worked on nuclear arms control negotiations while attending law school. Prior to his State Department service he was a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy serving in nuclear submarines. His Naval service also afforded him assignments at the Department of State and Department of Defense in various policy positions.
