Speaker: South America: How Satellite Broadband and Backhaul Can Connect the Continent's Smart Cities

Mauricio Segovia is currently the president of AXESS Networks, a global satellite telecommunications company for the corporate market, recently adquired by Redeia's operator and satellite service provider, HISPASAT, with more that 200 employees and more than 9.000 active satellite links around the world.

Mauricio has more than 20 years of experience in the telecommunications and satellite sector. Previously, he has worked in different management positions at Bellsouth (Celumóvil) and Booz Allen & Hamilton.

He was awarded by the WTA (World Teleport Association) as the Teleport Executive of the Year 2020 for promoting a culture of service and operational excellence in the company since its inception. With Mauricio’s leadership AXESS Networks has become a true global player, recognized as the premier service provider in the region by its excellent service and customer experience. He has also been nominated by Via Satellite as “The Satellite Executive of the Year 2020” where he competed with great industry leaders.

Mauricio has a degree in Economics from Lehigh University and a Master's degree in Economics from the University of Southern California, he also has an MBA from New York University´s Leornard N. Stern School of Business.

He is based in Barcelona, Spain, where AXESS headquarters are located.
