Speaker: 2019 Update on Sterilization & Disinfection Standards

Susan Klacik is a clinical educator for the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) and serves as their Representative to the Association of the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI). A member of the Association of perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN) Guidance Advisory Board. She is the author of the OR Manager column “Sterilization and Infection Prevention”. Susan represents HSPA for regulatory affairs dealing with sterilization and disinfection. In 2022 Susan received the AAMI Standards Developer of the Year Award.
With more than 35 years of healthcare sterile processing experience, Klacik has authored numerous articles and served as a contributing author to the HSPA Central Service Technical Manual, Instrument Resource Manual, Endoscope Reprocessing Manual and Central Service Leadership Manual. She is the author of the IAHCSMM magazine’s column “Inside Washington” and the OR Manager column “Sterilization and Infection Prevention”. She was the 2009 recipient of the IAHCSMM (Now HSPA) “Award of Honor”. She received the HSPA Presidents award in 1996 & 2003. Susan has a fellowship from both HSPA and AAMI and holds a bachelor of Science degree in Business. She has spoken domestically and internationally on CS/SP-related subject matters as well as webinar presentations. She has represented HSPA for regulatory affairs dealing with sterilization and disinfection.
